A voracious reader since childhood, Iain has always felt a need to write. After receiving a typewriter as a present for his 16th birthday, he has been writing in some form or other ever since.
Iain worked as a freelance videogames journalist between 2003 and 2009, writing for outlets including PC Plus, PC Gamer, gamesTM and Videogamer.com, before switching focus to writing fiction after changing career from IT to teaching. His favourite authors and writing influences include J.G. Ballard, Iain M. Banks, Robert Heinlein, Andrzej Sapkowski and Kurt Vonnegut.
In 2019, Iain self-published Incursion, a speculative science-fiction space opera, heavily influenced by real-world physics.
In 2023, Iain self-published Soulthief, the first book of The Tarot of the Planes, a series of interlinked but standalone novels set in a unique universe merging both fantasy and science-fiction themes. Planewalker, the second book of The Tarot of the Planes series, is almost complete and scheduled to be published on Kindle and Amazon before the end of 2026. A third book in the series (working title Lavaspeaker) is in development and tentatively scheduled for release sometime in 2028.
Iain also has several other writing projects (both fiction and non-fiction) planned and in development, including a companion textbook to his A-level Physics podcast, The Equations Are Your Friends, though don’t expect to see this imminently…
